Known in European gardens by the mid-14th century. Its grey felty leaves grow in a rosette, and are often mistaken for lamb’s ears, which are softer. The single quarter-sized flowers of this variety are white. The original plant in the Farmhouse gardens was given to a volunteer by her elderly neighbour, who had them in her garden for at least 70 years.
To grow: Direct seed where they are to grow in early spring in full sun or part shade. Tolerates poor soil. Self sows readily.
