Introduced in Germany in 1810, this is the first stringless snap bean, thus the whimsical name. Original seed for this variety given to us by a Surrey pioneer family member. Good as a fresh snap bean, and unsurpassed as a dry or shell bean.
To grow: Sow mid-May to mid-June, 2-3" apart in well-drained, warm soil in full sun. Plant at 3 week intervals for a long harvest. Provide a 6-8 foot support or trellis. Pick regularly as pods ripen to increase yield. (80 days)
