Painted Sage (Salvia viridis)

Annual
Decorative variety of sage with grey-green leaves and pink, purple, mauve or white flower-like bracts. grows to 18”. Plant grown by Thomas Jefferson in mid-1700s. A mucillage made from seeds was used to treat sore eyes for many centuries.
To grow: Sow seeds in spring in sunny spot in light, well-drained soil.
