Marigold, French Stripe (Tagetes patula)

This marigold variety originated in Mexico and arrived in Europe in the 16th century. It is believed to have entered England with Huguenots fleeing the massacre of St. Bartholomew in 1572. grows to 14” tall with 1-2” flowers in hues of yellow to red.
To grow: Plant seed in May in full sun in fertile soil, lightly covering with soil. Pinch back when 6” tall to promote bushier growth.
