Lettuce, Black Seeded Simpson (Lactuca sativa)

An early loose leaf lettuce, popular for over 150 years. The light green, crumpled leaves are tender and sweet.
To grow: Sow lettuce seeds in average soil in full sun in early spring for first crop. Sow in late summer for fall crop. Cover with ¼” of soil and thin to 8” apart when 1-2” tall. For extended harvest, plant every 2-3 weeks.
