Honesty (Lunaria annua)

Biennial
Also called “Money Plant” and “Silver Dollar”. A favourite plant of medieval gardeners. Clusters of scented white, pink or mauve flowers appear in spring on 3’ plants followed by translucent, silvery round seed pods beloved of dried flower crafters.
To grow: Full sun or light shade, average soil. Sow seed in summer for flowers next year. Gather seed pods in fall as they turn brown and pull off the outer casings to reveal the silvery inner disks. Brush or peel the flat brown seeds from the inside, leaving the silver disks for flower arrangements.
